Drive
Check out by 10am. 2.5hr drive to Kokura.
Nissan Rent a Car — Kokura Station

Return the car by 4pm
Train & ferry
Train from Kokura to Hiroshima (~1hr) — about 5 per hour, so no need to book.
Then a local train to Miyajimaguchi.
And finally the ferry — book on the day at the stand. There are two operators, JR or local, both around £1. Total travel time 2hrs.
